Meghalaya Congress to bring up alleged murder of ex-HNLC leader Chesterfield Thangkhiew

During the state Assembly session, the Meghalaya Congress has stated that it will raise the issue of former HNLC leader Chesterfield Thangkhiew’s “assassination” in an encounter.

The Meghalaya Assembly session will start on September 10 and will last until September 17. On August 13, former HNLC leader Chesterfield Thangkhiew was ‘killed’ in a confrontation with Meghalaya police. Meanwhile, the state of Meghalaya has launched a judicial investigation into the incident.

The Meghalaya Congress has also decided to introduce a resolution in the Assembly to have Metbah Lyngdoh removed from office. Zenith Sangma, HM Shangpliang, George Lyngdoh, and Kimfa Marbaniang, all members of the Meghalaya Congress, have signed the resolution. The commissioner and secretary of the Meghalaya Assembly have received the resolution. The Congress, on the other hand, has not given any reason for moving the resolution.
