Meghalaya : Conrad Sangma clears out his visit to attend CM’s ceremony of Assam

A clarification notification was issued by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, for his visit to Guwahati to attend the swearing-in ceremony of new Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Tuesday.

Several citizens expressed their disapproval over Sangma violating COVID-19 protocols, on Monday. The CM was questioned for his lack of responsibility.

It was alleged that the CM postponed an important cabinet meeting to attend Himanta Biswa Sarma’s swearing-in ceremony in Guwahati, amid oxygen shortage in Meghalaya.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Sangma said, “Some people are concerned about me following or rather not following protocols let me assured everyone that protocols apply to all. But we should still be careful and COVID could happen to anyone anytime. Be safe always wear masks and sanitize hands regularly.”

In his tweet, Conrad Sangma attached a notification issued on April 21, by the state’s health and family department which read, “All persons entering the State except those mentioned at (a) above: “Exempted from testing if they possess a valid final certificate of vaccination.”
