A plea submitted by a senior member on the suspension on this year’s 100 Drums Wangala Festival in Chibragre near Tura was rejected by the Meghalaya High Court on Thursday.

A demand for the festival to be held at the old venue in Asanang was made by the Vice chairman of Wangala committee, Purno K Sangma.

The festival is set to start on November 13 and 14 and will have only three groups that includes the host team Chibragre.

The Committee has decided not to break the four decade old legacy of the festival by withdrawing its occurrence of Wangala Festival, as per working chairman of the Festival.
