Meghalaya : Hike in petrol price affects commuters

The hike in fuel price has troubled daily commuters in Shillong as petrol price have reached Rs. 90.24 per litre.

The fuel prices have been increasing since November 2020 which is affecting both private and commercial transport sector.

An indefinite strike has been announced from February 3 by the Meghalaya Joint Action Committee of Commercial Vehicles in view of fuel hike. A memorandum is submitted to the deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong, where the Joint Action Committee made a demand to reduce taxes and revise the taxi fares.
