The State Government was asked by the Former PHE Minister and Sohiong MLA, Samlin Malngiang for inclusion of Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution and introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state.
Sohiong legislator also expressed his grief about the presence of any schemes in the PHE department before the NPP-led MDA came into power.
“When I was a Minister of the PHE, I called the officers for meeting and I was told there were hardly any schemes”, he said.
The matter of providing water supply to the people was looked along with the Chief Minister. An amount of Rs 500 crore was given later.
The Government plans to bring together more than 6000 villages under the centrally-funded Jal Jeevan Mission. He also said that roads worth about Rs.2000 crores were sanctioned by the Government in last few years.
