Meghalaya ranks Second best Governed state in India

A moment of pride and significance as Meghalaya, the mesmerizing Northeastern state of India has been given the Second rank as Best Governed State of the Country. Falling under the Small States Category, the position was based on the Public Affairs Index(PAI) 2020, of the Public Affair Centre(PAC).

The Public Affairs Centre (PAC) studies the course of activities, particularly on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the context of India.

The Public Affairs Index (PAI 2020) is a thorough scientific, data-driven framework that ascertains the degree of governance at the sub-national level and determines the position of ranks for the states and the Union Territories (UTs) of India on a Composite Index (CI).

Goa showing improvement from last year persists its position in the top with an index figure of 1.466, while Meghalaya jumps from the third position into second with an index figure of 0.797. Sikkim bagged fourth position with an index figure of 0.603, Tripura fifth with an index figure of 0.146, Arunachal Pradesh sixth with an index figure of 0.048. Mizoram and Nagaland were among the Poorly Governed State with an index figure of -0.056 and -0.117 respectively, while Manipur was given the worst governed state with a index figure of -0.364.

Meghalaya’s Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma exhibited his elation on his Tweeter handle as,
