Meghalaya : Release of Funds for State Border Development

For many developmental projects alongside inter-state border, funds would be released soon for Inter-State Border Area Development Programme (ISBADP), said Lahkmen Rymbui Meghalaya Border Area Development Minister.

Funds under the programme are being sanctioned as per the availability, said Rymbui on the fifth day of the Meghalaya Assembly Autumn Session on Thursday.

Rymbui in his reply to Congress MLA from Nongpoh Mayralborn Syiem said that funds were not being sanctioned during 2019-2020 due to lack of funding.

“The department will examine the 111 villages along the inter-state border in Ri-Bhoi district that are yet to be notified,” Rymbui said.

If the villages are found eligible as per the standards, funds will be allotted to those 111 villages by the department under ISBADP.

Another question was raised by the Nongpoh legislator to which Rymbui replied that the state government would inspect the arrangements of the Border Area Development Officer in Ri-Bhoi.

Rymbui also informed that the funds worth Rs. 39.55 crore has been sanctioned since the conceptualisation of the Border Area Development Programme (ISBADP) in 2011-2012.
