Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) releases its candidate list in Mizoram on Friday ahead of Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections this year.
During the inauguration ceremony of the party office in Aizawl the candidates for 8 Municipal seats were released by the BJP.
All 19 AMC seats will see BJP contestants, said Mizoram BJP president Vanlalhmuaka on the occasion.
He said that candidate names for the left out seats will be announced soon.
Vanlalhmuaka said, “BJP stands for the development of the people and relied on the motto ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ (together for everyone’s growth)”.
“The BJP will work for the development of everyone and the State,” he added.
The State BJP President stated that nothing big was achieved by both Mizo National Front (MNF) and Congress even though they have ruled the state for more than 35 years.
“The BJP will never make monetary promises to woo voters, but will work for the uplift of every section of the society. We stand for the poor, under privileged, oppressed, deprived section and the exploited,” Vanlalhmuaka said.
Congress announced names of 19 party candidates, including six women for the municipal polls on 12 January.
Mizoram Congress president Lal Thanhawla is confident that the party will win the polls.
Mizo National Front and Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), have not released their candidate names yet.
