To discuss the matter over movement of trucks between the borders, a High-level virtual meeting was called between  the chief secretaries of Mizoram and Assam. The meeting was handled under Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Thursday.

To bring back peace among the people residing nearby, Bhalla had appealed to withdraw forces from the borders to both the chief secretaries.

To establish confidence and further avoid any unwanted events, a small group of policemen were deployed near the border area, said Mizoram Chief Secretary, Lalnunmawia Chuaungo.

In his statement he said, “Therefore, withdrawing them from the disputed areas is technically unthinkable and not possible as long as residents on the other side of the border are carrying out activities, which could harm public harmony and create panic.”
