A release stated that, 10 sewing machines with stands were distributed by the Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the support of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East).

Colour cotton threads and plastic buttons; lining; hook and eve; bukram, scissors (Iron best quality), cotton cloth, needles, velcro etc., were also distributed in addition to the machines at three villages of Lungpuk, Parva, and Chapi in Mizoram on December 23.

The recipients were given a training workshop from December 24 to 30 where they received training on sewing techniques. Counselling was also provided to polish their skills and use their knowledge in sewing as a career option. The Assam Rifles were praised for their efforts by the public.
