Mizoram : DM&R reviews mitigation projects sent to NDMA

Under the leadership of Lalchamliana, DM&R(Disaster Management & Rehabilitation) Minister a meeting was conducted where there were discussions made with DM&R department officials on the Mitigation Project submitted by the State Disaster Management Department to the National Disaster Management Authority.

In the meeting measures to curb the increasing amount of forest fires were discussed along with possible action plans to further avoid such outbreaks.

The following projects will be pursued according to their importance, Hunthar – Vaivakawn road, Lunglei College Veng, Phullen and the Khawzawl subsidence.

The DM&R Minister grieved on the fact that forest fires broke out in a minimum of 30 locations in Mizoram damaging up to 14 houses in Bungtlang South. He made a heartfelt request to the public in making sure that such fire outbreak does not occur in future days.
