A 42-year-old man from Republic locality in Aizawl was found guilty by Aizawl district additional district and sessions judge Dr HTC Lalrinchhana, for murdering 5 people in a family, on Tuesday.

The court’s order was declared via a video conference where it was said that part of the punishment to be given would be announced on Thursday, said Lalrinchhana.

The order read,

(then 37 years) stabbed to death Sangliansiama (57) in the latter’s residence in Republic locality and then killed Sangliansiama’s wife Khualthangi (57), younger sister Vanlalchhungi (54), grandson Samuel Lalrinchhana (14) and Isaac Lalrinnunga (5).

The violent incident took place on the night of January 9, 2015.

The murderer was attempted to kill Lalzepuii. A maid living in the same house locked herself inside a toilet before she was rescued.
