The Vice-president of ruling Mizoram National Front (MNF) Vanlalzawma submitted his resignation from the post on Monday owing to moral responsibility of the party’s defeat in the recent bypoll in the Serchhip assembly seat, whose result was declared on 2nd May 2021.
The resignation was submitted to party president and Chief Minister Zoramthanga.
Vanlalzawma informed the reporters that since he failed in his responsibility, he has resigned as the MNF vice-president. He lost to Zoram Peoples Movement (ZPM) candidate Lalduhoma by a margin of 3,310 votes. The MNF leader secured 5,319 votes in the bypoll.
