Mizoram’s Biggest Drug Bust: 2 Assamese traffickers arrested

During an operation in Aizawl, Mizoram police recovered 5 lakh tablets of Methamphetamine and arrested two people from Assam, in what might be the greatest drug haul of the year, according to a senior police officer.

State Inspector General of Police (IGP) John Neihlaia said contraband worth Rs. 10 crore in the local market was confiscated from a truck during a combined operation by state police and its sister agency on Thursday evening in Sairang hamlet, approximately 20 km from the state capital Aizawl.

He added the truck driver, Mantu Kumar Deb (45), and the second driver, Subhas Das (33), both of Assam’s Karimganj district, were detained for having the contraband.
