Nagaland: ISO certification for Kohima Police station

Manoj Kumar, Kohima SP speaking to reporters on Thursday sad, “Kohima North Police Station has become the first Police Station/Government office in Nagaland to receive the ISO 9001:2015 certification for a quality management system”.

Constructed by the British regime in 1933, it was the first police station under the former Naga Hills District. On the fulfillment of the quality management system on policing, the police station was granted the ISO certification.

Led by an Inspector rank officer-in-charge along with 88 other ranks, the police station is situated in the mid of Kohima town.

The certification steps were done in less than 30 days via online application, process, upgradation, documentation and online auditing.

On completing the necessary steps for ISO Certification, Kumar praised the sub-divisional police officer (North), M. Yambemo Humtsoe and officer-in-charge of North Police Station Chubaonen.

The police station has eased the method of character/passport verification and the system of filing and record keeping for efficient working.

They also upgraded the infrastructure of the police station and the complaints have been restricted by time.

The police station has a reception desk, para legal volunteers help desk, separate interrogation-cum-investigation room, separate space for visitors, clean drinking water facility and several other visitor-friendly amenities.

ISO 9001 is the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system.
