Nagaland: Total business shut down on September 16

AIMSU

Total business shut down on September 16, the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries protest against Nagaland’s grievences put forth.

The cause of the shutdown is due to the Nagaland government’s inaction against illegal and multiple taxations.

In addition to protesting the Government, the total shut down will regulate the restriction of entry of goods transport, as against various DMC Taxes/fees at check gates collected on GST items.

However, the taxes imposed by government agencies, including Municipal and Town Council have made it difficult for the business communities to engage in any business activities.

The protest was initiated by the community because of the silence by the government on multiple illegal taxations by various groups and government agencies.

The DCCI president Akashe Zhimomi said “The state government has so far not taken any concrete steps or gave the assurance on the issue of illegal and multiple taxations. The one-day total shutdown is the first phase of the business community’s protest against the inaction of the state government and its machinery,”.

However, Akashe further requested the CNCCI Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce Industry to lend support and solidarity on common issues.

Furthermore, he also requested the general public to extend support as the issue affects each and every citizen in the state.
