Eastern Command chief reviews security along China border

Rana Pratap Kalita, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command, recently visited the forward areas along the China border in Sikkim. 

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General RP Kalita, the GOC-in-C of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command, recently visited Trishakti Corps and reviewed the security situation along the Sikkim border.

According to an Eastern Command spokesperson, Lt Gen Kalita arrived in Sukna, Siliguri on February 14 for a three-day visit to the Trishakti Corps.

Lieutenant General Tarun Kumar Aich, GOC, Trishakti Corps, briefed the army commander on the current situation and operational readiness of the formations.

Later, Lt General RP Kalita met with Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad and Chief Justice Biswanath Somadder on February 15.

During the meeting with the governor and chief justice of Sikkim, issues concerning the current security situation along the borders, as well as various aspects of the ongoing civil-military cooperation, were discussed.

Moreover, Lt General RP Kalita also visited forward areas in Sikkim, where he was briefed on the current situation along the border by senior commanders on the ground.

However, during his interaction with the troops, the Army Commander praised the soldiers for their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to keeping vigil around the clock in inhospitable terrain and adverse weather conditions.
