The Arithang constituency SKM coordination meeting was conducted here on Friday, with Roads and Bridges Minister Samdup Lepcha as the chief guest.
Arun Upreti, local MLA and Urban Development Minister, Lakpa Moktan, SKM youth wing president, Bikash Basnet, CLC president Karma Tempo Rapgyal, and other party executives and workers were also present.
In his remarks, the Minister of Roads and Bridges greeted all of the new members who joined the SKM at today’s session.
As per the vision of party president and Chief Minister P.S. Golay, SKM believes in inclusive politics and inclusive development.
Lepcha noted that rural Sikkim is undergoing significant development, highlighting the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY), the SKM government’s main housing initiative.
Another significant youth programme, ‘One family, one entrepreneur,’ is currently being launched, and he expects great results in the coming years.
“In 2014, the SKM had a programme ‘one family, one job’ which was copied by the then ruling party and implemented. However, the scheme was launched by the then government without any provisions or funds to pay the employees. It is the SKM government that is taking care of these employees with honesty and ensuring they get salaries on time,” said Lepcha.
