Sikkim girl Bhawika Pradhan's International Medal

On Friday, Iron Pump Sweat Shop (gym) congratulated Sikkim girl Bhawika Pradhan on winning the bronze medal at the 12th WBPF World Bodybuilding & Physique Championship 2021 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
At the competition earlier this month, the 17-year-old placed third in the mixed pair category and fifth in the junior model physique category.

Bhawika, who began her fitness career at the age of 13, described her journey as “amazing” and “full of hard work.” She mentioned that it was her first international competition and that she was pleased to win bronze in the first round.

She has won four medals at state level competitions and hopes to compete in national and international competitions in the future.

“Bodybuilding is a costly profession that necessitates a great deal of dedication and hard work. Having said that, I encourage other young women to join in and make it a career. Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha, Chief Minister’s additional political secretary (east), was my main supporter during the championship, and our family is grateful to him “Bhawika expressed himself.

Bhawika Pradhan also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister P. S. Golay for his financial support. She also expressed gratitude to the Sikkim Bodybuilders Association, her parents, and her supporters.

Sunil Gurung, Bhawika’s coach, said it’s a proud moment for not only Sikkim, but India, as Bhawika is the first woman to win a medal in the competition. Bhawika’s struggles and sacrifices for the competition were highlighted by him.

There were over 100 Indian competitors, and Bhawika won a bronze medal, which makes me proud as her coach, said Gurung.

Rabin Pradhan expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and well-wishers for encouraging and supporting his daughter Bhawika during her athletic career. He also expressed gratitude to BAC president Pema Lachungpa for her assistance.

He continued, “I expected Bhawika to win an international medal at the age of 21, but she did it at the age of 17, which makes me even more proud.”
