At Upper Pelling, the first National Paragliding Accuracy Olympic trial championship organized by organized by Pelling Tourism Development Association (PTDA) started from December 25 to 29.

The chief guest at the opening function was SLA deputy Speaker Sangay Lepcha. Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba, PHE minister Bhim Hang Subba and others also attended the programme.

The paragliding championship was flagged off by SLA deputy Speaker Sangay Lepcha.

This is the first ever paragliding championship organized in India in which 60 paragliding pilots from 12 teams viz. Air force team, Indian Army Team, Kalimpong, ALU, NE Flyers, Black Hawk, Assam, Guwahati Warrior, Sikkim A, Sikkim B, Arunachal and Adventure Zone took participation from various States of India, the IPR release mentions.

Paragliding pilots and achievers namely Sonam Bhutia, Prashant Rana, Arjun Kumar Rai and Rinzing Doma Bhutia were felicitated.
