With a Yuksam-Tashding constituency-level programme at Yuksam, west district, a state-wide meeting was held by the SKMNari Morcha.

The chief invited guest of the meeting was Zoom-Salghari MLA SunitaGazmer. The chief guest gave special importance to team work and coordination between Nari Morcha members for productive outcome of SKM government’s policies.

Gazmer said, “The Nari Morcha must come forward for re-development of the State. Unlike the previous SDF government, our SKM government is committed to uplift the women of Sikkim by providing equal opportunities in reality and not just in speech”. Various welfare schemes will be introduced along with pro-women policies by the SKM government, as an act of uplifting Women in the State.

The MLA stated, “The SKM government will not forget the contributions of women in forming the SKM government in the State. The SKM government and its leader P.S. Golay have set an example of good governance within a short span of 18 months in power. Previously, women in the State were limited to only shouting slogans and taking part in political activities but the present SKM government is giving equal rights and opportunities to the women”.

Chances of employment and entrepreneurship for women brought out by the SKM government were mentioned by Kala Rai, the president of Sikkim Nari Morcha. Problems faced by the women of Yuksam-Tashiding were assured to be brought forward before the government.

People from various blocks of Yuksam-Tashiding left the SDF in between the programme and joined the SKM formally. Block development related problems that require help from the SKM government was brought forward by the Nari Morcha.

At Pelling an identical Nari Morcha coordination meeting is scheduled on Sunday for Yangthang constituency and at Dentam on Monday for Maneybong-Dentam constituency.
