The District magistrates are asked to get in touch with local GPUs and associations by the state government for ensuring that tourism-related activities can go as per the state government’s decision, according to the latest notification.
A notice addressed to all District Collectors informed that the decision to reopen the most vital economic activity of the Himalayan state has been “badly affected” by the restriction on tourism-related activities in the local level contrary to what they have decided.
The Tourism Department has also appealed to local level authorities to cooperate with the government in the smooth resumption of tourism in Sikkim, which is the most arterial economic activity of the state.
