Sikkim’s Govt issues New SOP; discontinues COVID-19 border checks

“All those persons who have received the first dose of COVID 19 vaccines or carry an RT-PCR negative report conducted within 72 hours shall be permitted to enter,” the state government said in a new advisory issued on Saturday. There will be no checks at checkpoints, and they will be able to move freely throughout the state. Verification of all tourists will take place at the hotel and will be overseen by the Tourism Department.

“These conditions (negative RT-PCR) will be verified by the hotels where they will be staying. The tourism department will oversee the process “mentions the government notice that goes into effect on September 27th, World Tourism Day.

There will be no restrictions on people leaving the state through checkpoints, according to the release. The new rules are in effect until October 4th. However, except for emergency purposes, the government has placed complete restrictions on the movement of vehicles and people from 10:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. during the night.
