Suman Debnath, a Tripura teenager, claimed to have recently purchased one acre of moon land for Rs 6000. Suman, who is from Sabroom in the South Tripura District, claims to be the first person from the northeastern state to own land on the moon, the only natural satellite of the earth.
Suman has also received soft copies of all required documents, including a certificate of property registration from the International Lunar Lands Registry (ILLR) in New York, via mail. The land’s location, longitude, and latitude were all listed on the registration certificate.
The land is located in ‘Mare Nubium,’ according to the certificate. ‘Mare Nubium’ has a diameter of 750 kilometres and is thought to be one of the Moon’s oldest circular basins. The feature name of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) is “Sea of Clouds.” It is a dark plain in the third quadrant of the moon’s surface.
Suman told reporters that he learned about the situation after several celebrities purchased property on the Moon. Curios, he looked it up on the internet to learn more, and discovered that the ILLR is the agency in charge of the moon’s land registry.
Suman was overjoyed to learn that he wouldn’t have to spend a fortune to own the plot, and so he made the payment of Rs 6000.
Meanwhile, this figure included all associated costs such as original property document shipping, PDF creation, and other hidden fees.
“I have already received the soft copies of the essential documents through email. The original copies are shipped by post and expected to reach here in Sabroom within next week”, said Debnath.
It’s worth noting that the International Lunar Lands Registry (ILLR) is responsible for administering and allocating real property on Luna, Earth’s Moon, as well as registering ownership claims to properties on the Moon on behalf of individuals, organisations, and businesses from all over the world.
