Tourism sector in Tripura to get upgrade by Government

For reviving the rural economy and for creating employment avenues, the state government has taken several initiatives to upgrade the tourism sector, said Tripura’s Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy while addressing the media at an inaugural function on Tuesday.
Roy inaugurated a floating jetty and water scooter service facilities for tourists at Mandirghat in Dumboor lake under Gandacherra sub-division.
Located about 120 km away from state capital Agartala, Dumboor lake is one of the major lakes in the country.
“The lake is a pride and honour for the people of Tripura. Thus to promote and give an economic boost to the tourism sector of the state, the state government initiated several steps to promote all the heritage and tourist spots in Tripura.”
He highlighted that this step by the government, shall attract tourists and create employment opportunities for locals of the state.
Roy criticised the previous Left Front government that they did not take any measures to promote the tourism sector in the state, which also led to low maintenance of tourism sites and decrease in tourist visitations, such as Narikel Kunja site.
Other dignitaries present at the function were Village Chairman, Committee’s Managing Director of Tripura Tourism Development Corporation, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and other officials of the Tourism Department.
