For children with special needs (CWSN) a project for their development was decided by the Tripura council of Ministers in a meeting. It was decided that private partners will be engaged for implementing Saksham Tripura.

The project will be put into effort across 400 schools who have the maximum number of CwSN enrolment, said Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath. A sum of INR 321.74 lakhs is decided for the project.

ICFAI University and four other institutions have been selected for the project, added Ratan Lal Nath.

For implementing  the module, a total of 100 special educators will be trained followed by 15-day training to 50 master-trainers, said Nath. Necessary facilities will be provided by the project to CWSN to make education for them truly fulfilling.

Nath stated, “At least one model school will be set up in each block headquarter in the first phase. The project will be implemented for a year on pilot basis and can be extended after evaluating the success of the outcome”.
