Tripura : Attack on SFI members; DYFI, TYF stage protest

Miscreants attacked Students’ Federation of India (SFI) state secretary Sandipan Deb and his brother Srijan Deb. Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Tripura Youth Federation (TYF) staged a protest in front of the state police headquarters in Tripura’s Agartala, alleging that the attackers were BJP supporters.

The police were asked to immediately arrest the perpetrators.

DYFI state secretary Nabarun Deb said, “Opposition leaders and workers are being assaulted across the state. There is so much political terror, but no arrests”.

“We fail to understand why the police do not take action against the miscreants”, Deb added.

Violence in Tripura has increased after BJP-led government came into power, said Deb.

“Left-wing youth organizations are conducting blood donation camps and providing relief materials to people during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. They are being attacked by miscreants for helping people”, Nabarun said.

Political Terrorism now is a day-to-day affair in Tripura, said TYF state secretary Amalendu Debbarma.

“These miscreants supported by BJP are also not allowing students and youths to join DYFI and SFI,” said Amalendu Debbarma

West Agartala police station has registered a case in the meantime.
