Tripura : Covid-19 vaccination drive launch

Eight districts of Tripura saw Covid-19 vaccination programme at 17 places on Saturday.

The vaccination programme in the state was launched by Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb at a function held at the Town Hall in Agartala.

Biplab Kumar Deb said, “Today is a historic day for us as the Covid-19 vaccination has begun across the country.”

“I thank all the frontline workers who have been dedicatedly providing their services to the public amidst the ongoing pandemic,” he said.

The tireless efforts of Indian scientists have come to fruition with the Covid-19 vaccines being developed indigenously in the country, he further said.

Mission director of Tripura National Health Mission (NHM), Siddhartha Jaiswal said, “Covid-19 vaccination is underway at 17 places in the state.”

From January 18 more than a hundred sites in the state will witness the vaccination process.

During the first phase 45,000 health workers in Tripura will be vaccinated against Covid-19.

In the second phase, about 90,000 field staff will be vaccinated and, about nine lakhs people in the third phase.
Second and Third phase data collection is undergoing and 2200 vaccination sites have been selected for the third phase.

The media fraternity was also appreciated by the Chief Minister for spreading awareness about Covid-19.
