Two men allegedly gang raped a 90-year-old woman at Kanchanpur in North Tripura recently.
The incident which took place on October 24th was behind darkness until the relatives of the woman took her to the police station to lodge an FIR. One of the accused is Anjan Nama (35), a resident of Barahaldi village, and the another one is still unidentified.
Bikramjit Shukladas from Kanchanpur sub-divisional police office said that investigation has started and the charges are being examined.
The victim in her statement said, “Anjan and another man stormed into my house at midnight. They raped me and left me almost half-dead. When I regained my senses the next morning, I informed my neighbour. But Anjan is a very powerful person and we didn’t dare to take a stand against him”.
The woman went under medical tests and was admitted to a hospital. Till now none of the accused has been arrested as said by police.
