Tripura : Include state tea workers in scheme for Assam and Bengal

Tripura MP Pratima Bhoumik wrote a letter to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, where she demanded inclusion of Tripura in welfare of tea worker scheme.

Bhoumik represents the West Tripura constituency in Lok Sabha. She said that the government had announced a scheme of Rs 1,000 crores for West Bengal and Assam tea workers.

She informed that Tripura has 48 tea estates, including 33 private, 12 cooperative and 3 government functional tea estates where more than 15,000 tea labourers are working out of which around 50 per cent are women employees.

“It is requested to kindly extend the scheme to the state of Tripura for the welfare of tea workers of Tripura,” she said.

“I am confident that this Budget will enhance ‘ease of living’ for the common man by simplifying procedure and rules. The Budget will bring positive changes for individuals, investors, industry and infrastructure sector,” she added.
