Tripura plans to rebuild Ujjayanta Palace’s “Durbar Hall”

The tourism agency has started redeveloping the ‘Durbar Hall’ of Ujjayanta Palace in order to highlight Tripura’s rich royal legacy and attract tourists from all over the country and the world. According to an official, Maharaja Bir Bikram’s Durbar Hall of Ujjayanta Palace would be rebuilt with the help of the Government College of Art and Craft students and professionals from outside the state.

Tripura tourism director Tarit Chakma took to Twitter to announce the initiative, “As part of preserving the rich Heritage, @TripuraTourism has initiated work of Durbar Hall of 120 years old Ujjayanta Palace (Nuyungma) of the Manikya Dynasty. The progress is on with the synergy of Art College, @LalitKalaAcademy, and Royal Family.” An official from the tourist department told EastMojo that once restored, the Durbar Hall of Ujjayanta Palace would be renowned as a symbol of Tripura’s rich tradition and culture.

“A blueprint has been created using the Rajamala, photographs, and paintings of the royal family. The students of the art and craft college along with a team of experts will be assigned for the work,” the official added. He further stated that the tourist agency just conducted a high-level meeting and that a committee was created to oversee the construction. During the meeting, permission was also given to begin the refurbishment of Ujjayanta Palace’s Durbar Hall.
