A middle aged woman was assaulted in front of public at Dighalia Krishna Colony of Northern part of Agartala for which four women of the five accused was sent to jail by a local court on November 21. Among the accused includes two elected members of local panchayat from ruling BJP.

Bail was granted to accused Babita Ghosh (22) as she had a small child to attend to. The rest of the accused ladies belonged from the same family – Sabita Ghosh (50), Gouri Ghosh (40), Jhuma Ghosh (32) and Rumpa Ghosh (30) who are jailed till Nov 28 next.

The accused attacked the victim on accusation of having extra marital affairs with the husband of Rumpa.

She was assaulted with an electric pole in front of public. None came to rescue her from the public.

About after an hour, the victim’s daughter received her in an unconscious condition and shifted her to hospital.

An FIR was filed by the victim’s family and police apprehended all five accused over evidence of a video footage of the incident posted on social media platforms.
