Northeast’s young heroes awards: Meet the jury

The Young Leaders of Northeast affix is an annual gathering where young inventors and leaders from distinct fields like business, politics, academia, sports, music, and culture come together, put their ingenuity and courage collectively to the purpose where they would like to see India vis-à-vis Northeast in the future, plan a roadmap, and strategize on invasions at the grassroots and management level.
This year, Leaders Connect is acknowledging people who in their precise line of work skillfully continued to encourage leadership, inspire hope and faith for the society amidst the pandemic situation, and the nominations have already started! Here’s a chance for you to assure that either you or a person you closely follow, is suitably recognized and compensated for their work.
But who will hear the efforts and accomplishments of the worthy candidates, you ask? we have some worthy names that hardly needs any introduction, young age achievement gainers with encouraging attitude.

Conrad Sangma

Meghalaya government working to enhance livelihood of people, says CM Conrad  Sangma

became the Chief Minister of Meghalaya in 2018 at the age of 40. He completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration in entrepreneurial management from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and completed his MBA in finance from Imperial College London. He became active in politics just after his completion of studies in 2004, when he was just 24 years old. In 2008, he was elected to the Meghalaya Assembly. Conrad is the National President of the National People’s Party (NPP). Under his leadership, Meghalaya has witnessed many youth-friendly policies and programs that focus on employment generation, livelihood and entrepreneurship. Apart from politics, Conrad has been associated with social work, as president of the PA Sangma Foundation, which functions for the betterment in sectors of education and environment, and also runs four colleges in rural Meghalaya.

GG Kamei

 

GG Kamei is a civil servant. She is from the 1994 batch of the Indian Revenue Service and is currently posted as Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), Guwahati, NER. A scholar of the prestigious Gurukul Chevening Scholarship, she holds diplomas from LSE, London for Leadership and Excellence, and Duke University, U.S.A. on International Taxation.

Hekani Jakhalu

Hekani Jakhalu – YouthNet

Hekani Jakhalu is the Founder of YouthNet. She is a lawyer by profession and has an LLM, a degree from the University of San Francisco, and trained extensively at Harvard University, American University, Amnesty International- San Francisco, and the United Nations HeadQuarters in New York. An alumnus of Lady Shri Ram College and the Law Faculty in Delhi University, Hekani worked both at the Supreme Court of India and Delhi High Court. After quitting as a Partner of a New Delhi law firm in 2005, she returned home to Nagaland to start YouthNet with a group of young professionals to address the challenges of youth employment and livelihood

Bhaichung Bhutia

Bhaichung Bhutia laments death of 'para' football, wants kids to play  freely outside - The Economic Times

Bhaichung Bhutia is an Indian sports icon from Sikkim and is considered the torchbearer of Indian football in the international arena. Bhaichung joined professional football at the age of 16. He played for various clubs like East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, JCT and United Sikkim. In 1999, when he joined English Club Bury, he became the first Indian footballer to sign a contract with a European club and only the second to play professionally in Europe. His international football honors include winning the Nehru Cup Nehru, LG Cup,SAFF Championship thrice and the AFE Challenge. Apart from contributing to sports and football, Bhaichung wanted to work on up-lifting the youth of North-East and founded Young Leaders Connect (now Leaders Connect) as the Chair in 2011. Many young leaders and achievers joined on board believing in his vision and today making it one of the most powerful platforms for the NE.
