All 32 accused in Babri Masjid Demolition case acquitted

All accused in the Babri Masjid Demolition case have been acquitted by the Special CBI Court in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

There were a total of 49 accused in the case out of which 17 had died. The remaining 32 accused were acquitted citing “lack of evidence” against them.

The Court said that the 1992 demolition was “not pre-planned” and that it happened at the “spur of the moment”.

Among the 32 accused, LK Advani, MM Joshi, Uma Bharti and Kalyan Singh were not present in the court for the hearing, as Advani and Joshi were advised not to travel due to their old age during the pandemic while Bharti and Singh had been tested with COVID-19.
