Entire village in Himachal Pradesh Tests Covid Positive

All Residents except one, of Thorang village in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul Valley, have tested positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, 2.83 per cent population of the sparsely-populated tribal district have been found infected with coronavirus so far, an HP Health Department data showed on Friday.

According to officials, the village along the Manali-Leh highway had just 42 residents as most people have migrated to Kullu for winter. The villagers had voluntarily decided to get tested a few days back and of the total 42 samples, 41 tested positive.

It is to be noted that the surge in cases in Lahaul Valley have forced the administration to restrict tourist movement. Tourists were not allowed to enter Lahul villages on Thursdays. The villages beyond the tunnel have been turned into containment zones. Meanwhile, a district health official said they have started special awareness programmes to help people guard against the infection. As per data, five people have succumbed to the virus in the district so far.
