Farmer’s Protests: Traffic Movement from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi’s Ghazipur halted today

The traffic movement from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi’s Ghazipur border has been closed on Monday (September 27, 2021) due to the Bharat Bandh call by farmers’ unions to demand the repeal of three Central farm laws. “Traffic movement has been closed from UP towards Ghazipur due to protest,” the Delhi Police said on Twitter.

Hundreds of farmers have obstructed major highways, including National Highway 1, which connects Delhi to parts of Haryana and Punjab. Farmers, farm labourers, commission agents, trade and employee unions, and political activists have decided to occupy national highways until 4 p.m. today, causing traffic congestion in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana.

Following the Samyukta Kisan Morcha’s call for a Bharat Bandh on September 27, protesting farmers are said to have parked their tractors on highways and major link roads in Punjab and Haryana. Meanwhile, to maintain law and order in Delhi and the surrounding areas, several police teams have been deployed.
