Indrani Mukerjea files bail petition in Supreme Court in Sheena Bora’s murder

Indrani Mukerjea, the main suspect in the Sheena Bora murder case, filed a bail application in the Supreme Court on Thursday. Because the apex court did not receive a copy of the order, the case was postponed until February 14.

Mukerjea, a former media baron, is being held in judicial custody by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the murder of her daughter, Bora.

Mukerjea recently claimed that Bora, the woman she is accused of murdering, is still alive. Mukerjea has asked the court to order the CBI to file an affidavit in response to her claims in an eight-page written application submitted through her lawyer Sana Raees Khan.

The application mentioned a woman who allegedly told Mukerjea that she had met a woman who looked like Bora in Srinagar in June 2021. The woman asked if she was Bora, and the latter said yes, according to the application.

Indrani Mukerjea’s lawyer says the woman who’met’ Sheena Bora is ready to record a statement.

The woman, who identified herself as Asha Korke, a former police inspector arrested in an extortion case involving former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh, made the claim to Mukerjee inside the Byculla women’s prison, according to reports.

Mukerjea, her then-husband Peter Mukerjea, and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna were all arrested in 2015 in connection with the murder.
