The President’s fleet review, an awe-inspiring and much-anticipated event, will take place on Monday, February 21 and Tuesday, February 22 at Visakhapatnam.

The Naval Fleet, which includes over 60 ships and submarines as well as 55 aircraft, will be reviewed by Ram Nath Kovind, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

This will be the twelfth fleet review, and it will be particularly significant because it will take place on the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, which will be commemorated across the country as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.’

The President’s Yacht, the INS Sumitra, is an indigenously constructed Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel that will lead the Presidential Column.

The Ashoka Emblem will be on the yacht’s side, and the President’s Standard will be flown on the mast.

After a 21-gun salute and a ceremonial guard of honour, the President boarded the Presidential Yacht INS Sumitra, which would pass by 44 ships anchored off the coast of Visakhapatnam.

The inspection will feature ships from both the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard.

SCI and the Ministry of Earth Sciences will both have ships participating. Each ship, decked out in full regalia, will salute the President as he passes by in this most solemn of naval ceremonies.

The Indian Naval Air Arm will also be reviewed by the President, who will see a magnificent fly-past by many helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.

A movable column of warships and submarines will sail past the Presidential Yacht in the closing stage of the review.

The Indian Navy’s most recent purchases will also be on exhibit.

In addition, a parade of sails, a search and rescue demonstration at sea, aerobatics by Hawk aircraft, and water para jumps by the elite Marine Commandos (MARCOS) will be held on the waterfront.

The President will distribute a special First Day Cover and a commemorative stamp in the presence of Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and Minister of State for Communication Devusinh J Chauhan after the Fleet Review.

During the day, the ships at anchor will be ceremonially decked in full regalia with various naval flags.

On February 19 and 20, they will be illuminated from sunset to midnight, and inhabitants of Visakhapatnam will be able to see them from the beachfront.
