Rahul Gandhi criticizes Modi over Chinese incursions in Ladakh & Uttarakhand

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, blasted the Centre on Sunday for suspected Chinese intrusions in Ladakh and Uttarakhand. Gandhi also used his 56-inch chest comment, which he made at rallies in the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, to mock Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Increasing Chinese control of India’s land equals China plus Pakistan plus ”Mr 56 inch,” tweeted in Hindi, alluding to Ladakh and Uttarakhand. On August 30, over 100 Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Uttarakhand’s Barahoti sector.

According to sources acquainted with the situation, the PLA forces left the region after only a few hours. The Chinese violation received no official response. The event occurred amid a protracted stalemate between Indian and Chinese forces in eastern Ladakh, while all parties had completed disengagement in two key sites.
